Project Overview

Volakas marble sets the tone from the entrance through the main dining floor at Livingston Restaurant + Bar.

The material was specified for its soft grey veining, consistent color across a large surface area, and ability to perform under the demands of a high-traffic hospitality environment. Warm brass fixtures and stone detailing throughout the interior draw out the marble’s natural warmth, creating a space that feels refined without formality.

Design Narrative

The Livingston required a marble that could unify a sequence of spaces — from a compressed entry corridor to an open dining floor — without losing visual consistency. Volakas was chosen over brighter white marbles for its subdued movement, which holds its character under warm interior lighting rather than competing with it.

The floor pattern incorporates a centered medallion at the threshold, a detail that rewards attention without interrupting the flow of the space. Across the full installation, slab selection prioritized tonal continuity so that the floor reads as a single material surface, not a patchwork of individual pieces.

"Mega Marble is the first call on any project where the stone has to carry the room."
